“Is BellSouth really the best DSL offering in my area or is there really a difference?” |
BellSouth DSL Offerings Written by: Patrick Oborn - Jul 30, 2010 Most of us have been taught that by cutting out the middle man we can save money, but is that all you save? When it comes to internet access and phone service working with the incumbents or Baby Bells is a mixed bag. Certainly there are competitive companies that can give you the same or better phone service than the Baby Bells which suffer from years of a monopolistic market but is it the same for internet service? DSL service is actually quite different than phone service. Besides the obvious difference of one being data and one being voice, competitive carriers generally use their own equipment which is kept at the phone company's facilities. In this case, asking your phone company to make changes to your service is dependant on your phone company and depending on how smoothly they run their operations you could have a very pleasant experience. Internet service, however is different. Many baby bells resell their service which is then sold under a different name. You may be buying internet access and not realize that you're really buying BellSouth DSL under another name. In cases where companies purchase BellSouth DSL and resell it under their own name, many of the advantages of changing carriers disappear. If the carrier does not own their equipment they will need to contact the provider to make any changes and as they are not the provider you have added another layer of complexity to any request you may have. Is it really worth the $5 or $10 you're saving by going with a competitor? Often times it's not. Think about cutting out the middle man when looking for internet service. If you know the company is simply reselling BellSouth DSL, why not just go with the source? |
RANDOM TELECOMMUNICATIONS BLURBSThe equipment used for fiber optic connectivity from your home or business to the outside world can be rather expensive. A good point to consider is to find a solution that will be with you for at least a few years. Our PRI T1 Line availability and price quote comparisons cannot be beat coupled with a free consultation while we negotiate the best possible pricing for you in the industry. When a virtual PBX system is setup for you, you will be able to handle any size of incoming call volume you may get. Telecommunication service providers continue to build out and architect the communications infrastructure, specifically the 3G Wireless and 4G Wireless networks. Software development firms demand enough throughput that the capability of a T1 cannot handle the requirements of client upload's and download's of traffic as users log onto FTP servers to access software patches and newly released versions of their product. You must be within approximately 15,000 feet of your local telephone company's nearest Central Office in order for ADSL service to work at top speeds. ADSL will not affect your normal telephone service in any way. It works great for web browsing, downloading, file transfers, streaming audio and video, real-time simulation games and even VoIP service. T3 lines are more complex than T1 lines, technically speaking they equal 28 T1 lines side by side one another that takes extra network equipment and software to work effectively. VARs (Value Added Resellers) can find you any of the following ipPBX, and VoIP equipment brands including 3Com-NBX, Artisoft, ADTRAN, Accutone, Adix and AltiGen. Because of our strategic telecom alliances and volume discounts we are capable of consistently give our telecom clients quality services at the most competitive market prices. Broadband via satellite is a wireless technology that requires no connection to your local telephone or cable company. While broadband via satellite may be a good choice for small, rural businesses with no other means of connectivity, satellite internet is not generally recommended for tasks other than web surfing, uploading/downloading files and sending/receiving e-mails. XO Communications Collocation provides secure, managed, controlled carrier-class space and network access for carriers, which provides faster, cheaper interconnection solutions. Backbone as it relates to telecommunications is the part of a communications network that handles the major traffic using the highest-speed, and often longest, paths in the network usually consisting of optical fiber and copper wires. Cable upload speeds are slower, but more than fast enough for the majority of applications. You will enjoy phone and Internet service like you have never deemed possible. Consumers can find it a challenging choice as to which product to buy because often they will make a purchase decision only to discover that a few weeks later there is an even better option on the market. T1 lines are often known for their usual utilization of aggregating multiple phone calls on 1 digital trunk by using TDM or also known as Time Division Multiplexing. If your organization is currently dealing with network capacity issues, then now may be the time for your business or organization to upgrade to an E3 line. Try and understand how flexible and scalable this solution will be in future. Regardless of traffic, DSL sometimes will deliver a lot better than cable.
